Tobago Forest Reserve

The Tobago Forest Reserve is the oldest protected rain forest reserve in the western hemisphere. Encompassing the island's central mountain range, the nature reserve is home to more than 200 bird species and unique wildlife similar to South America's Amazonian jungle. The most popular and well-marked hiking trail is Gilpin Trace, accessed off the Roxborough-Parlatuvier road and leading over the Main Ridge down to Bloody Bay. Arranging pick-up in Bloody Bay is recommended. Taking a guide for hiking excursions is also strongly recommended.
