Trinidad & Tobago Tourism & Visitor Guide
Welcome to Trinidad & Tobago!
Trinidad and Tobago is situated in the southernmost corner of the Caribbean archipelago, just off Venezuela, and boasts a dynamic mix of African, Indian, French, Spanish and English cultures. Only recently beginning to tap into its touristic appeal, the country is a quieter Caribbean choice, mostly known for its annual Carnival, a decadent celebration of dance, music, culture and the human spirit.Trinidad is the larger of the two main islands and is home to the majority of the country's population and the capital city, Port-of-Spain—the bustling commercial heart of the island. Venturing outside Trinidad's larger cities such as Port-of-Spain and San Fernando, visitors will find various natural attractions, including waterfalls, mud volcanoes, wildlife reserves, and turtle-watching opportunities in Grande Riviere and Matura. Just northeast of Trinidad, Tobago is home to a mere five percent of the country's population and is a little sanctuary of lush rain forest, tiny fishing villages and secluded beaches. Here, it is really possible to have a postcard-perfect shoreline all to oneself. The Tobago Forest Reserve is the western hemisphere's oldest protected rain forest and is much like South America's Amazon, while Tobago's underwater reefs are known as some of the Caribbean's best diving spots.
Located just south of the hurricane belt, Trinidad and Tobago manage to avoid most of the battering storms suffered by the rest of the Caribbean, making it an exceptional year-round visitor destination.
